Our Athlete of the Month (AOM) of June 2016 is known for his strength and new found love for CrossFit (even though he may not admit it). He is especially known for his witty comments and analogies. One of his most common analogies not only represents his personality, but also his love to lift or push heavy objects. Tom often says" “There are Thoroughbreds and then there are Clydesdales. Iam a Clydesdale."
Tom Puwalski has been doing CrossFit for 18 months. You may remember him from his home made knee pads and his amazing smoked brisket during the 2016 CrossFit Open.
Even though these accomplishments are noteworthy, the coaches would like to recognize Tom for his recent success in the gym. Within the last 30 days, Tom has achieved a 5 rep deadlift PR at 295 lbs. and also hit a 365 lb one rep max. He wasn't happy with that, so he came in less than a week later to try his luck at 400 lbs. That didn't make him happy, so he just crushed 415 lbs for a new 1 rep max letting out a few verbal expressions ($&!/?&) while still keeping his normal subtle (stone cold) facial expression.
The deadlift is not his only lifting accomplishment this month. He achieved a 3 rep overhead squat PR of 125 lbs., 165 lbs push jerk PR, 5 rep back squat of 225 lbs. and new 3 rep back squat of 285 lbs. Most people wish for 1 PR in a month's span, Tom has achieved numerous because of his hard work and consistency.
Finally, we would like to recognize him conquering the BIG "monster truck" tire!
Please take a moment to join us in congratulating Tom Puwalski as the June 2016 Athlete of the Month.
